Ok I decided to go with outer panels matching the sides. I also decided to do two guitars of similar schemes. One OM cutaway Quilted Maple Sides and back with Quilted Sapele center wedge and my on unintended thin line SJ with Quilted Sapele back and sides and a Quilted Maple center wedge. This pic is from that set.I still don't have my camera back but I scanned this in. binding on this one will be Curly Maple and the Maple side and back with Sapele center wedge the binding will be quilted Sapele So do these colors go toagther of what? ![]() oops a little bigger than I planed ![]() there that's better |

I am not going to inlay any purfling between the Maple and the Sapele on the back. The seam is flawless and I like the simple look. The large end of the end graft will match the large end of the wedge and taper toward the top, no purfling on the end graft either. The binding will be maple as well. So there will be very smooth contemporary almost craftsman furnisher movement look to it. I will be doing the same on the other guitar with the reverse, Maple back and sides and Sapele wedge and binding. As soon as the first is assembled I will barrow the company camera and post pics. |
